The Legendary
A genuine original, its unique character forged from the sandy pine barrens of southwest Jersey. Founder George Crump had help from now-legendary architects H.S. Colt, A.W. Tillinghast, George C. Thomas Jr. and Walter Travis. Hugh Wilson (of Merion fame) and his brother Alan finished the job. Throughout the course, Pine Valley blends all three schools of golf design penal, heroic and strategic often times on a single hole. New tree removal at selected spots, most recently on the 12th hole, have revealed some gorgeous views of the sandy landscape upon which the course is routed. The grandness of the place is what first stuck out the size of the property and the amount of acreage on every hole was simply mind blowing.
Add in the absolutely relentless bunkering, the unforgiving misses both off the fairways and on the greensites and the total distance and accuracy required to navigate the course and you have one demanding golf course that has you thinking on every single shot, regardless of distance.

Montagu
Fancourt’s Montagu Golf Course was designed by Gary Player. It holds the 8th position on South Africa’s Top 100 Courses’ list. Golfers can expect a challenging, yet highly enjoyable golfing experience surrounded by the natural beauty of the Fancourt estate. This tree-lined course covers large tracts of varying terrain across an undulating indigenous landscape. A warm-up area, featuring a full-length range and chipping and bunker practice area, is available to golfers before play.
Outeniqua
Fancourt’s Outeniqua golf course ranked 18th by South Africa’s Top 100 Courses’ experts. Also designed by Gary Player, the course can comfortably accommodate a large field of golfers. Bramble Hill
Bramble Hill, also designed by Gary Player Design Co. is Fancourt’s shortest offering with 6 holes. It has a furrowed terrain with undulating fairways, pot bunkers and elevated greens. The very short par-3 5th provides a good opportunity to gaze across the course, with the picturesque Outeniqua Mountains providing a breath-taking backdrop. For the closing 6th hole, Bramble Hill mimic’s the parkland persona of Montagu and Outeniquea – not quite as imposing but good enough to ensure a testing finish.

In “The Complete Golfer,” course architect Robert Trent Jones wrote that Pine Valley “is frequently alluded to as the most difficult course in the world, and this reputation is justified. To my way of thinking, it also possesses more classic holes than any other course in the world.” Johnny Miller wrote that “There are no weak holes. Every single one is a masterpiece.

Club House
Pine Valley Golf Club is a highly exclusive club. Membership is by invitation only from the board of directors. The only way a guest is allowed into the club is if they are invited and accompanied by a member, and they must have low handicaps to play the course. The club voted on April 30, 2021 to remove all gender-restricted language from their bylaws. Prior to this women were only permitted to play the course on Sunday afternoons. There are about 930 members spread throughout the world, and the list is a closely guarded secret. Notable members of the club have included George H. W. Bush, Sean Connery, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones Jr., Connie Mack, Bob McNair, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Dan Quayle, Brian L. Roberts, Jay Sigel, George C. Thomas Jr., and A. W. Tillinghast.
The Resorts
Pine Valley at Mountain Creek Resort is a 4-season resort that offers Alpine Skiing, Snow Boarding, Mountain Biking, Zip-Line, and a Water Park – all on site as well as a tree top experience down the road. Condo comes with a king bed, queen bed, a sleep sofa, chairs, 2 bathrooms, 3 LCD TVs, a balcony, a FULL kitchen, & a gas/electric fireplace. Deck work done during July and August on every unit with one days warning. Contactless check-in features a digital lock and you will be provided with your own unique key code.
