The Legendary

Meandering through rolling coastal dunes the 18 hole golf course was developed to compliment the natural layout of the coastal dunes and enhance the beautiful surrounding landscape rather than detract from it.   Whilst the rolling fairways of the courses, set amongst the wild and dramatic landscape, look as though they were established long before we could jump on a plane and fly across Bass Strait to Tasmania, it was in just 2004 that the first course The Dunes opened for play. With the reputation of Barnbougle Dunes continuing to augment, the idea of a second course at Barnbougle was conceived. In December 2010, Lost Farm, the 20 hole sister to The Dunes opened for play. Despite the close proximity of the courses, they are remarkably different. The topography of the land on which the Dunes lies rolls in and out of the sand dunes along the coast, whilst the sand dunes on which Lost Farm lies are steeper and more dramatic.

The Lost Farm

Barnbougle Lost Farm is a 20-hole golf course located on the shores of the Forester River in New South Wales, Australia. Head architect Bill Coore’s minimalistic design is paired with his philosophy that traditional, strategic golf is the most rewarding. Boasting spectacular holes that wind along the coast and inland towards the Tasmanian hinterland, Lost Farm’s landscape is dramatically different yet complementary to both the surrounding landscape and the Dunes.

The Dunes

The Dunes, with its spectacular vistas of Tasmania’s North East Coast, is a Links Golf Course unlike any other in Australia. he elder of the two courses, The Dunes is a spectacular example of traditional Links golf. Why not take a Course Tour to become acquainted with this beautiful landscape? There are Practice Facilities to get you warmed up and if you want to get serious, perfect your driving, putting and chipping skills under one of our teaching professionals. Overlooking Barnbougle’s pristine beach sits the stunning Dunes Clubhouse – where you can wind down between and after games with a refreshing drink and a hearty meal.

Bougle Run

Set atop the dramatic sand dunes behind Barnbougle Lost Farm, Bougle Run, the new 14-hole short course is set to open late March 2021. Designed by internationally acclaimed Golf Architect Bill Coore, Bougle Run’s 14 holes consist of 12 par-3’s and two par 4’s which sit on the tall, undulating coastal dunes between Lost Farm’s front and back 9. The route, which includes some of the highest points of the entire Barnbougle complex, is set slightly back from the coastline, providing aerial-like views over the Lost Farm Course and Anderson’s Bay.

Golf Courses

A Course that Offers Drama and Diversity Despite their close proximity, Lost Farm is remarkably different to The Dunes. Lost Farm features 20 holes, all of which are playable in any one round, and the course layout tracks along the coast and inland amongst sand dunes that are significantly steeper than those featured at The Dunes. The strategic bunkering and undulating greens combined with wide fairways make for a course that offers an exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities. The Lost Farm plays along  the coast and inland and also features 20 holes – 13a, which was built as a substitute hole but was too good to leave out of the route, and 18a – a very short par 3 leading golfers to the bar and clubhouse. A fun, challenging addition to Barnbougle’s two, Bougle Run is designed for golfers of all abilities and the perfect option to sate your golf appetite in just 90 minutes.
