Prestigious Club
Multi-racial membership, Island Country Club
The Legendary
The first Golf Club at the old racecourse (Farrer Park) was the forerunner of the Singapore Island Country Club. The club was opened on 17 June 1891 by the then Governor, Sir Cecil Clementi. Island Club was Singapore’s first country club, with facilities for other sports apart from golf. In March 1930, work commenced on the 18-hole course, taking over two years to complete. This was a historical event for Singapore as this was the first club with a multi-racial membership in the colony. Chinese, Indians, Arabs and Jews all integrated and blended as one at the club. It was also the first club with other sports facilities not yet introduced in Singapore – there were two tennis (grass) courts and plans were drawn out for a swimming pool. This prestigious, members-only golf club has two putting greens to choose from–the Bukit course and the Sime course, both 18-hole par 71. Guests must be accompanied by a member. It also offers a golf pro shop and a library where books and videos on golf can be loaned out.
Feature Casa de Campo Course
ALL BITE, NO BARK.
Ranked first in the Caribbean, this golf course in paradise should be on every golfer’s bucket list. Don’t settle for less when you have the opportunity to play on the best. Make no mistake, if you dare challenge the Dog it will bite back. But your efforts will be rewarded with 18 jaw-droppingly-beautiful holes—including seven right along the ocean—and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve played one of the best golf courses in the world.
A DYE FORE GOLF COURSE – TO DIE FOR.
Now some more numbers for you: holes 12 and 15 are two of the greatest and most-challenging par 3s in the world thanks to their length and stunning, cliffside beauty; 5 – the amount of holes on the Lagos course with lakes in play; and 1 – the number of strokes it takes to get started on the round of a lifetime. The signature challenges on Dye Fore golf course are matched by its subtle historic influences, ultimately creating a course that incorporates the past and present Dominican landscape. These defining features make Dye Fore golf course a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
RISE TO THE CHALLENGE.
The Links golf course provides plenty of opportunity to admire the sea — as no less than five holes feature water hazards. Rolling hills and ocean views offer a unique and fun golf experience. This Caribbean golf course is rooted in the natural landscape it was built upon. Another Pete Dye creation, The Links was completely overhauled in 2012 to make it every bit as challenging as the other courses at Casa de Campo. Although challenging, a game on this La Romana golf course will parallel the beauty of the sport.
The Course
Island Country Club should be your choice when selecting the club that is right for you, and your family. With something for everyone, Island Country Club is unique from the rest. While Island Country Club have recently completed a multi-million dollar golf course renovation, and boast incomparable amenities, it is the friends who become family – the people – that make this club the special place it is. All the holes have been updated and enhanced with more than seventy-five bunkers and unique water features. The eighteen-hole par 72 layout consists of six sets of tees with a total yardage ranging from just under 4,800 yards to over 6,850 yards. The new design has received rave reviews through its aesthetics, versatility and playability for all levels. The course redesign incorporates the natural beauty of the land and lakes, while providing a modern and challenging golf experience. A completely new irrigation system was also installed to maintain optimal course playing conditions. In the summer of 2014 all 18 fairways were regrassed with Celebration.
