Outperform & cutting-edge technology

The vehicle’s exterior design is bold and striking, calling attention to the vehicle

Performance

The Escalade is exactly what its purchasers want in a vehicle: large, beautiful, and loaded with cutting-edge technology, among other things. In our ranks, the Cadillac even managed to outperform models from Mercedes-Benz and BMW, among others (though the Lincoln Navigator tops them all). The Escalade’s external design is bold and striking, drawing attention to the vehicle. As beautiful as the exterior of this Caddy is, it is the interior that is the most interesting place to be. The leather is of the highest quality we’ve seen on a Cadillac, and the dashboard is covered in a gigantic 38-inch OLED touchscreen display with navigation. The amazing display can command an optional 36-speaker sound system that has to be heard to be believed, and it does not disappoint.

Models

What’s New for the Cadillac Escalade in 2022? Super Cruise driver assistance technology is now available on additional model levels. The inclusion of more safety aid systems is becoming standard on more trim levels. Three new optional paint colors (Mahogany Metallic, Galactic Gray Metallic, and Wilder Metallic) have been added to the lineup, replacing two discontinued hues (Shadow Metallic and Dark Mocha Metallic) from the previous model year. Buckle to Drive is a seat belt safety device developed by General Motors. Gas and brake pedals made of metal and rubber (Sport pedal kit) are standard. Trailer assist technology is included in the performance package.

Technology

The Cadillac Escalade, now in its fifth generation, is the most technologically advanced incarnation of the full-size luxury SUV in the world. It has a dashboard with a 38-inch OLED screen, and Cadillac also offers a head-up display for those who desire an additional screen. As part of the built-in navigation system, there is an augmented reality capability that can be used. Instead of using their own mobile devices for navigation, those who desire to do so can connect their phones to their cars using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, respectively. A 360-degree video system is included as standard, which will undoubtedly aid in the safe maneuvering of this luxurious SUV.

Rivalry

The Cadillac Escalade, which is now in its second model year following a facelift, has received minor tweaks to keep it competitive in the full-size luxury SUV sector. Despite the fact that the flashy and muscular design has remained largely intact since the fifth-generation Cadillac debuted in 2021, Cadillac has increased the amount of standard safety and driver assist equipment available across the lineup. Built on the same platform as the GMC Yukon and the Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac has stuffed the Escalade and Escalade ESV with the latest technology and design to compete with rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and BMW X7. The Escalade and Escalade ESV are available in two configurations: standard and ESV.

the experience is with us

2022 BMW X7

The exquisite experience continues beyond the first and second rows of seats, with sumptuous and comfortable seats available for those in the second and third rows as well. It’s also a fantastic vehicle for road trips. There is plenty of cargo capacity in the standard Tahoe-based Escalade, and purchasers who upgrade to the larger ESV model, which is based on the Suburban, will benefit from even greater interior volume. Despite the fact that the Cadillac Escalade is one of our top-rated three-row luxury SUVs, we have a few small differences of opinion with General Motors’ top dog. The suspension is a little harsh for our liking; we find that smooth and undulating roads are the best places to appreciate the new completely independent suspension. The fact that some of the switchgear can be found in other General Motors vehicles also detracts from the premium ambience. Finally, the V-8 model has a poor fuel efficiency that is out of step with the rest of the competition in the sector.

Systems

Higher-end variants come with an additional digital rearview mirror camera, which provides a more comprehensive picture of what’s behind the vehicle’s rear bumper. Cadillac also provides a tantalizing option of a 36-speaker sound system, which is an increase from the base 19-speaker array on the vehicle. For the 2022 Escalade, Cadillac has included standard trailer tire pressure monitoring as well as the removal of its previous In-Vehicle Trailering App system in favor of General Motors’ Smart Trailer Integration Indication. This trailer monitoring system is now included as part of the Performance package. Despite the fact that the Cadillac’s impressive array of screens up front, 36-speaker AKG audio system, and Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology outperformed the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer in a comparison test, the Grand Wagoneer’s superior ride quality and luxury in the second and third rows helped the newcomer to a narrow victory.

Substitute

This year’s Escalade comes in five trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Sport Platinum. The Escalade is also a hybrid. The Premium Luxury trim level is great for those wishing to get the most out of their Escalade while staying within budget. Included in this version of the 2022 Escalade are standard Super Cruise and other high-end features like heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a head-up display. The V-8 Escalade Premium Luxury should cost around $85,000 for RWD and $88,000 for 4WD. Given that this is a Cadillac Escalade, the Platinum trim level is definitely the best choice. Both come standard with a 36-speaker premium sound system and air-ride adaptive suspension, and the V-8 and RWD variants start at around $102,000 before extras. The Premium Luxury Platinum or Sport Platinum with 4WD will put you back slightly over $105,000. There may be no better way to buy a good car, make a statement, and silence the critics.
