Modern crossover

Seamlessly blend contemporary appeal, Jeep Wrangler

Performance

The Wrangler was named MotorTrend’s 2019 SUV of the Year because of its ability to seamlessly blend contemporary appeal with a cherished legacy. With its unrivaled ability to traverse rough terrain, it’s an ideal vehicle for drivers of all skill levels. It’s now capable of delivering a civilized driving experience on the highway as well. For those who don’t care about off-road capability, nearly any similarly sized crossover vehicle will be more enjoyable to drive than a conventional sedan or coupe. For some reason, our affordable off-road comparison didn’t include the Jeep Wrangler. Putting a powerful engine in a vehicle that is meant to be driven slowly is a waste of money. However, awesomeness does not necessitate coherence. The Jeep Wrangler 392 in 2021, for example. The engine’s cubic inch capacity is 6.4 liters, so that’s what that number refers to. 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque are generated by this muscular engine, making it the most potent Wrangler ever produced by a Jeep manufacturer.

Models

The Jeep Wrangler is once again the IntelliChoice Best Overall Value winner for 2021, just as it has been in previous years.

Technology

The standard infotainment display in the Wrangler measures 5.0 inches diagonally and is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. A 7.0-inch touchscreen is available, and it includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. An optional 8.4-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation is also available.

Wranglers equipped with either of the larger touchscreens will be equipped with a tire air pressure alert system that will sound the horn when the desired air pressure is reached in the tires. Models with a larger touchscreen are equipped with a front-facing camera to make off-roading more convenient. In addition to the one front-row USB port that comes standard, a second port is available on higher-end trims; two second-row USB ports are available as an option. There is an eight-speaker audio system as standard, with the option of an Alpine premium setup.

Rivalry

Designed to provide incredible off-road capability while maintaining its iconic visual appeal, the excellent Jeep Wrangler is a must-have. It has been designed from the ground up to withstand rough and technical terrains. The Wrangler’s on-road driving manners are primitive when compared to the driving manners of virtually any modern crossover, but it has nonetheless amassed a devoted following over the years. In addition to two- and four-door configurations, the Wrangler is available with soft- or hard-top roofs—including a removable roof option that can be removed entirely. For the year 2021, gasoline, diesel, and hybrid engines will be available. In addition to the Toyota 4Runner and Land Rover Defender, it will compete against the upcoming Ford Bronco, among other off-road SUVs.

the experience is with us

2021 Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler was named the 2019 SUV of the Year by MotorTrend for its ability to successfully combine modern appeal with a cherished heritage. Its capabilities on difficult trails are virtually unmatched, allowing drivers of all skill levels to explore unpaved terrain. It now delivers a reasonably civilized on-road driving experience, too. However, if off-road capability isn’t a top priority, nearly any similarly sized crossover will ride smoother, handle better, and most likely be more fuel efficient than the competition. We were unable to award the Wrangler the top spot in our affordable off-road comparison because of its bouncy ride and shaky steering.

Systems

All Wranglers are 4WD regardless of powertrain, which is typical of a Jeep. The vehicle comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but an eight-speed automatic transmission is also available. There is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine in the Wrangler that makes 285 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque. It gets Jeep’s eTorque mild-hybrid assist system when paired with an automatic transmission. With this engine and manual transmission, a Wrangler Rubicon performed well in MotorTrend testing, clocking a 7.4 second 0-60 time. This engine and automatic transmission in a Wrangler Sahara reached 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. Manual-equipped two-door models get 17/25 mpg city/highway, while four-door models get 17/23 mpg city/highway according to the EPA. Automatic-equipped two-door models get 20/24 mpg, while four-door models get 19/24 mpg.

Substitute

Regardless of how you feel about the Jeep, the Wrangler is surprisingly high-tech despite its old-school appearance. – Despite the fact that Jeep’s infotainment system is one of our favorites, some of the more recent active-safety and driver-assistance features are not available on the vehicle. Wrangler is also not particularly adept at crash safety. Regardless of your taste, there’s a Wrangler for you among the many trim levels, options, and accessories available. With the addition of turbo diesel, impressive plug-in hybrid, and raucous V-8 engines, the vehicle’s appeal continues to grow. Aside from that, the Wrangler Willys is possibly the best daily driver ever built by Jeep. Even more compelling is the fact that a Jeep Wrangler has the highest resale value of any vehicle in the automotive industry, which is a significant plus. The Jeep Wrangler is a true automotive icon, with roots in the past and a design that is relevant today.
